Designated a NewTown in 1964 and intended to accommodate overspill from Birmingham. Redditch, although aesthetically challenged, has a rich history of engineering, needles and motorcycles. Modern town planning included an abundance of concrete and housing estates in an attempt to create social equality and balance, as well as affordable housing. It also meant plenty to explore. Growing up there in the 1980s was far from dull. Over fifty years have passed and the urban landscape has matured yet remained unchanged. The children of the overspill mirror that and all still have ties with a town that some reluctantly call home. A town that has played a part in shaping who they are and what they have become.
